Munich 2023 #4 - Wooden Pier framed by red Lanterns

11/07/2024

Here is another picture from my trip to Munich last year. I've only recently started working on the pictures from back then and I particularly liked this one. It shows a wooden footbridge in a small pond, beautifully framed by two red lanterns and surrounded by vegetation. The motif is located in the East Asia section of the Westpark in Munich and is one of the most beautiful areas of the park for me. But I also liked the rest of the park, so I might be taking more pictures of that soon. It wasn't easy to get the framing right so that all the lines are nice and straight and the vanishing point is centred. But this was the best attempt, which I also adjusted a little in Lightroom. For the edit, I opted for slightly colder and paler colours, just to make the red of the lanterns stand out all the more.

The Westpark is located in the 7th district of Munich, Sendling-Westpark, and covers an area of 60 hectares. The park was created in 1983 for the International Garden Exhibition and includes highlights such as the rose garden, where around 20,000 roses bloom in spring, the East Asia ensemble, where my picture was taken, and the lake stage, which is often used for cultural events or open-air cinema programmes. There are also various opportunities to play and do sports for all seasons and age groups.¹
